Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the Plant Manager, with day to day instruction from the Despatch Team Leader.
  • Production Operators are responsible for producing hydraulic hose assemblies in accordance with the St Neots production plan utilising lean manufacturing methodologies as defined under the Gates Production System (GPS) whilst ensuring that all the requirements of the company H&S, Quality and Environmental/Energy Management Systems are fully complied with.

Responsibilities Include

  • Ensure that all applicable H&S procedures/working practices are complied with at all times with particular emphasis on complying with Gates Life Critical Rules.
  • Report any perceived H&S risks.
  • Assist in containment activity in the event of a HSE incident.
  • Be part of the team to adopt and understand the benefits gained from all Lean Manufacturing (GPS) methods.

Energy & Environment

  • Ensure that all environmental control procedures are complied with and appropriate records are kept.
  • Complete containment activity in the event of significant environmental incident being identified.
  • Be a part of the team, communicate and co-operate at all levels.

Keys to Success

  • A good working knowledge/experience of working within a Production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (English).

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None.

  • Must be Customer and Quality focused; demonstrating ability to adapt and change.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere so that the department has a strong team, accept challenges and have a strong commitment and desire to exceed and achieve the stated goals and objectives.
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to train others, being able to communicate effectively, enabling other team members to understand and support company goals and objectives.
  • Must have a flexible attitude/desire to be able to turn their hand to anything, as with the team being very small the duties will be variable and the flexibility of the person is paramount to achieving the goals.
