About Us

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CFT) is an NHS community and mental health provider trust. We support the health and wellbeing of over 570,000 local people who call Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly home, with demand for our services inevitably increasing during holiday periods. Our care is delivered to people at home, in the community and in hospital – we operate from 100 sites with clinical teams working across four operational service lines. We have an enthusiastic and passionate workforce of over 4,500 people, who are all dedicated to delivering our vision of Outstanding Care for All. Our culture and values place people at the heart of everything we do.

Whilst we are proud of the journey we have taken in recent years and our commitment to realising improvement, we do not underestimate the scale of the challenges ahead for us. We are currently rated as Requires Improvement by the Care Quality Commission and action plans are progressing to address the Regulator’s findings from its most recent inspections in 2022. Yet we also recognise the hard work and dedication that runs throughout our teams – we were pleased that the CQC recognised the care given to our patients resulting in a rating of ‘outstanding for caring’. Our focus remains on great care and ensuring that our services are delivered safely and to a high quality, and our staff have enjoyable, safe and fulfilling work lives. To achieve this, we are developing ever closer working with health and care services alongside our partners in the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System (ICS) in order to provide the very best outcomes for our population.

The Opportunity

Join us at this exciting time, bringing your ambition and creativity to help us shape the strategy and plans to change and transform the health and wellbeing of our communities. We are looking for an individual with clinical experience to join our Board and play a full role in Board discussions/decisions. With a strong connection to the communities we serve, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a passion for quality and excellence, together with an appreciation of the risks we manage in our services.

We want our Board to provide a broad spectrum of lived experience and are keen to attract candidates who can bring diverse perspectives. We welcome expressions of interest from the widest possible range of backgrounds, particularly those who are under-represented at Board level in the NHS.

With a track record of board or senior level leadership experience which can be translated effectively to our environment, you will be able to utilise your skills, knowledge, judgement, and experience to help guide the strategic development of the Trust and work as part of a unitary Board, to ensure quality and safety of our healthcare services. Able to demonstrate sound judgement and political acumen that will bring focus and a fresh perspective to our aims as a system partner, above all else, we are looking for individuals who understand and are passionate about the importance of population health and reducing health inequalities and the role health care providers can play in promoting it. We are particularly seeking those who live in or have close connections with Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, able to demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity and a clear understanding of and alignment to our values.

If you are excited by the potential of working as part of our Board and help us to realise our ambitions, then we look forward to receiving your application and meeting with you in due course.
