Help shape one of the UK's most significant NHS transformations. Bristol NHS Group, which brings together North Bristol NHS Trust and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking two exceptional Non‑Executive Directors (NEDs) to join its Board during a pivotal period. Following the Group’s formation in April 2025, the two organisations will formally merge in July 2026 to create a new Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest and most influential NHS organisations in England. The Trust will serve 1.5 million people, employ 28,000 staff and deliver services across 13 sites with a £2.6 bn turnover. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new organisation at scale, driving improvements in patient care, population health, innovation and value for money. The Trust aims to become an Advanced Foundation Trust and a leader in research, innovation and integrated care.

Roles

  • Finance and Estates Committee Chair – responsible for financial oversight and assurance and for strategic estates or capital investment expertise.
  • Population Health / Public Health / Commissioning Lead – brings experience to strengthen partnership working and to deliver the Trust’s strategy aligned to the NHS 10‑Year Plan.

What We’re Looking For

  • Independent judgement, support and constructive challenge at board level.
  • Strong understanding of governance, financial stewardship and risk management.
  • Values‑driven, inclusive leadership and motivation to make a meaningful difference to local communities.
  • Relevant expertise for each specific role (financial oversight for the Finance and Estates Committee Chair; population health, public health or commissioning for the other role).
  • Experience in large NHS organisations and a track record of effective board participation.
