A highly respected and longâestablished UK educational institution with an international reputation is seeking an Interim Head of Financial Operations to join its Finance Leadership Team as soon as possible. This is a critical interim appointment, providing senior financial leadership during a period of transition while the organisation recruits for the permanent post. There is potential for this role to evolve into a tempâtoâperm opportunity for the right candidate, or it can be considered as a standalone opportunity if preferred.
The Role
- As an active and collaborative member of the Finance Leadership Team, you will lead the group financial accounting function and take full responsibility for statutory reporting and financial governance across the organisation and its subsidiary entities.
- Acting as a strategic partner to the Executive team, the role will have significant influence over financial decisionâmaking, compliance and transformation activity.
- You will also deputise for the Finance Director where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all group financial accounting activities, ensuring robust financial control and compliance.
- Lead on statutory reporting, including preparation and delivery of yearâend financial statements.
- Oversee taxation, including compliance and planning.
- Manage treasury, investment activities and cash flow.
- Provide leadership on capital management and foreign exchange exposures.
- Ensure effective financial control frameworks across the group and its subsidiaries.
- Provide technical accounting expertise and advice to senior stakeholders.
- Support and influence organisational change management and business transformation initiatives.
About You
- Fully qualified member of a professional accounting body (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Significant postâqualification experience within financial accounting and reporting.
- Strong background in technical accounting, statutory reporting and financial governance.
- Proven experience overseeing complex group accounts and subsidiaries.
- Experience within the public sector, education, or a regulated environment is advantageous.
- Comfortable operating at senior leadership level, partnering with Executive stakeholders.
- Able to add immediate value in an interim capacity while supporting longerâterm transformation.
