Karibu Community Homes was formed in April 2024 through the merger of Inquilab Housing Association and Westway Housing Association, creating the UK's largest Black and Minority Ethnic‐led housing provider. The name Karibu means "Welcome" in Swahili, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity, belonging, and community. Today, we manage over 1,900 homes and serve thousands of residents across London and the South East, with a clear mission: to provide safe, sustainable homes and deliver services that people value and trust.
We are seeking an Assistant Director – Governance and Business Assurance. This is a pivotal role for someone who can ensure Karibu meets the highest standards of governance, compliance, and assurance. Acting as Company Secretary, you will provide expert advice to the Board and Committees, oversee statutory and regulatory compliance, and lead frameworks that manage risk and performance across the organisation. You will also be a trusted confidant to the Chief Executive, supporting decision‐making and ensuring governance underpins our strategic ambitions.
You will lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks, maintain robust systems for risk management and internal audit, and ensure Board and Committee meetings are well‐organised and compliant. Your remit will include supporting Board renewal and effectiveness reviews, overseeing GDPR compliance and data governance, and ensuring our practices meet regulatory standards.
