Interim Senior Advisor – Regulatory & Compliance
Location: West of England
Contract Type: Interim (6 months)

We are supporting our client, a University in the West of England, in their search for an experienced and knowledgeable HE professional with a strong background in regulatory and compliance matters. This is a pivotal role, working closely with senior leaders to shape and support key areas of academic governance and assurance.
About the Role
You will collaborate directly with the Deputy Registrar and Deputy Vice-Chancellors, contributing to strategic initiatives across academic assurance, collaborative provision, and academic governance. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will influence institutional practices and support decision-making at the highest levels.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead and contribute to a range of strategic projects and activities, including:
- Enhancing academic assurance frameworks across the institution, including presentation and awareness raising
- Producing high-quality annual reports for Academic Board and the Board of Governors
- Undertaking in-depth investigations into incidents or issues where necessary
- Supporting the implementation of recommendations from a recent collaborative provision review
- Acting as Secretary to Academic Board and the Strategic Academic Portfolio Group
- Advancing our Behaviour and Health Framework, integrating policies on Fitness to Study, Professional Suitability, and Student Conduct
- Strengthening our partnership with the Students’ Union through a refreshed agreement and collaborative practices

- Significant senior-level experience in regulatory and compliance within the English higher education sector. This would suit candidates with experience as an academic registrar.
