Turn commercial partnerships into greater impact for people facing financial difficulty The Money Advice Trust is a national charity working to prevent financial difficulty and remove problem debt from people’s lives.
Last year we provided free, independent, expert debt advice to more than 216,000 people, helping them deal with over 2.9 billion in debt through our award-winning National Debtline and Business Debtline services.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation.
Following the development of a new strategy and in the context of a major transformation programme, the partnerships and commercial function is delivering strong performance, with income growing and new opportunities emerging across financial services, energy, water, telecoms and the wider third sector.
The Money Advice Trust is now seeking a Head of Partnerships & Commercial to build on this momentum and lead the next phase of sustainable income growth.
The role This is a strategically important new leadership role, responsible for developing the Money Advice Trust’s external partnerships and commercial activity.
Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, you will lead a combined Partnerships department spanning National Debtline, Business Debtline and the charity’s successful training and consultancy business.
Leading two teams and 12 colleagues, you will shape and deliver ambitious partnership and income-generation strategies, strengthen existing relationships and develop a robust pipeline of new opportunities.
You will build high-value, multi-year partnerships, develop compelling commercial propositions and lead negotiations that create value for partners while extending the reach and impact of the charity’s services.
You will also lead the continued growth of the Money Advice Trust’s training and consultancy business, helping organisations improve their understanding of vulnerability and deliver better outcomes for customers experiencing financial difficulty.
The role offers an unusual opportunity to combine commercial growth with meaningful social impact.
The Money Advice Trust delivers outstanding services and already holds extensive expertise, insight and strong relationships across debt advice, financial services and other creditor sectors, and consumer vulnerability.
Your role will be to translate those assets into sustainable partnerships, stronger propositions and new sources of income.
About you We are looking for a commercially astute and values-led leader with substantial experience in commercial partnerships, business development, commercial activity or income generation.
You will bring: A strong track record of securing and growing significant partnerships and income streams.
Experience developing commercially compelling propositions and building sustainable opportunity pipelines.
Confidence leading complex negotiations, bids, proposals and partnership agreements.
Strong relationship-building skills and credibility with senior decision-makers.
Experience managing targets, forecasting, performance and commercial risk.
The ability to lead and develop high-performing teams through growth and change.
Strong analytical judgement and the ability to turn insight into commercial opportunity.
A collaborative leadership style and a genuine commitment to the Money Advice Trust’s purpose.
Experience within financial services, credit, utilities, debt advice, consumer vulnerability or training and consultancy would be valuable, but is not essential.
We are particularly interested in leaders who can bring strong commercial discipline into a mission-led environment, rather than candidates whose experience is limited to traditional charity fundraising.
This is an opportunity to shape a growing function, develop partnerships that deliver lasting value and help more people access the support they need to resolve financial difficulty.

The Money Advice Trust is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from candidates with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
