As a nationally significant organisation within NHS Wales, Velindre University NHS Trust delivers specialist cancer services for South East Wales alongside critical blood, transplant and diagnostic services for patients and hospitals across the whole of Wales. Our work is complex, safety‑critical and deeply purposeful, underpinned by a highly skilled and committed workforce.
The Trust is now at a pivotal moment. Alongside the operational and financial pressures facing the wider health system, Velindre is completing one of the most ambitious transformation programmes in Welsh healthcare: development of the new, state‑of‑the‑art Velindre Cancer Centre; and the modernisation of Wales’s national blood and transplant service.
Our ten‑year strategy, Destination 2033, sets a clear ambition to deliver high‑quality, sustainable and person‑centred care; to be a beacon for research and innovation; and to place the wellbeing and engagement of our people at the heart of everything we do.
Following a period of change, we are now looking to appoint a substantive Chief Executive who will play a central role in turning our ambition into reality - improving outcomes for patients, donors and communities across Wales.
We are seeking an experienced, values‑led leader with a strong track record of Board‑level leadership in a complex NHS, public or commercial organisation. You will bring credibility, political awareness and the ability to lead transformation at pace, alongside a leadership style grounded in integrity, openness and inclusion.
This is a defining opportunity to strengthen culture, restore confidence and shape the Trust’s next chapter and to make a lasting difference to cancer and specialist services in Wales.
