The role involves leading the implementation and ongoing management of ISO 27001 accreditation. This includes designing and embedding the management system, taking ownership of its day-to-day operation, governance, and continuous improvement. The role requires close collaboration with IT, Professional Standards, and teams across the business to ensure robust controls, effective risk management, and compliance with audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the implementation, embedding, and ongoing management of the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS).
- Managing, maintaining, and continuously improving ISO 27001 certification.
- Owning and developing the firm’s ISO 27001 documentation.
- Leading internal audit activity, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Preparing for and managing external audits.
- Chairing and supporting governance forums.
- Providing expert guidance on ISO 27001 and information security requirements.
- Driving awareness and engagement across the organisation.
- Managing client and supplier assurance activity.
Risk Management Coordination:
- Leading the implementation and oversight of the ISO 27001 risk management framework.
- Driving risk identification, assessment, treatment, and monitoring activities.
- Facilitating regular risk reviews.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
- Championing high standards of governance and control effectiveness.
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen processes and controls.
- Embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
The person must demonstrate strong working knowledge of ISO 27001, proven ability to design and improve governance, excellent attention to detail, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Experience in planning and leading meetings is essential.
Desirable attributes include degree-level education or equivalent experience, experience with ISO management systems, and understanding of regulatory frameworks within a legal or professional services environment.
