Overview
Senior Engineer (Copy) role at Gateley Smithers Purslow. Full time position in Reigate.
Responsibilities
- Use a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations
- Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including organising site investigations
- Liaise with clients and a variety of professionals including contractors and architects
- Preparation of reports, contract documents, management of tenders
- Provide technical advice to clients
- Obtain planning and/or buildings regulation approval
- Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors
- Resolving design and development problems
- Management of budget and project resources
- Ensuring that all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Party wall, Listed buildings
- Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of projects
- Undertake large value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services
- Promote the company’s services to secure projects and uphold Gateley Smithers Purslow brand
- Assist the director with training and development of the engineering team
- Provide supervision and support to Graduates and Engineers to promote knowledge and understanding
- Inspection / supervision of construction work on site under contract, preparation of interim and final accounts, claim and practical completion
- Comply with the company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations
Qualifications and Skills
- MEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering
- Experience and extensive working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures with awareness of latest statutory requirements, publications and guidelines
- Experience in negotiation, supervisory and leadership roles
- Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large-scale projects
- Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills
- Ability to think methodically and manage projects
- Problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant legislation
