Gateley Smithers Purslow are looking to recruit a full time Building Surveyor to join their growing team in Nottingham.

The work will primarily be Midlands based plus local areas surrounding Nottingham.

About The Role

This is a busy and varied role providing support to the Surveying team on a wide range of projects, including insurance work, primarily residential and commercial buildings in all forms of construction.

The Building Surveyor is expected to support their Line Manager and is responsible for handling projects within own level of authority and providing training and guidance to supporting team members.

This position provides a perfect opportunity for the successful candidate to show their ambition, drive and passion for customer service.

A professional manner and good interpersonal communication skills are essential.

  • You will be responsible for the following
  • Inspect and provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites.
  • Acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations.
  • Prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications.
  • Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and current technical standards.
  • Understand and apply other relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning.
  • Help promote the company’s services and secure projects.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Candidate qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying.
  • Experience and working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements and technical publications.
  • Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing.
  • Insurance repair project experience preferred.
  • Experience working to deadlines and within budgets on large scale projects.
  • Experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation.
  • Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills and ability to think methodically to solve problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible and variable attitude to work type.
