About the Role
As a support worker, you will support adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and other complex care needs. You will help individuals achieve independence, build life skills and enjoy a safe, fulfilling life in their own home. This role is ideal for anyone looking for a support worker job in supported living services, health and social care jobs, or care assistant roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised, person-centred support in line with individual care plans
- Assist with daily living activities: cooking, cleaning, shopping and household tasks
- Provide personal care where required
- Support individuals to access appointments, community activities and education
- Promote independence, confidence and life skills development
- Administer medication safely and maintain accurate records
- Follow safeguarding procedures and regulatory standards
- Work collaboratively with families, professionals and the care team
- Contribute to a positive, safe and supportive environment
Experience & Skills Needed
- Previous experience as a Support Worker, Care Assistant, or within Supported Living services
- Understanding of safeguarding, mental capacity and person‑centred care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm, patient and professional in challenging situations
- Basic IT skills (record keeping, emails, digital care systems)
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care
- Training in Medication, First Aid, Moving & Handling, Infection Control, Safeguarding
- Full UK Driving Licence
