You will assess and structure non-regulated first charge bridging cases from application through to completion. You will apply a clear credit framework, price for risk, and support brokers with decisive feedback. You will focus on residential bridging at launch, with scope to expand into wider products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess new applications, review full case packs, and make credit decisions within mandate
- Structure deals to balance risk, pricing, and certainty of execution
- Apply valuation policy, select appropriate valuation route, and challenge outputs where needed
- Analyse exit strategies, cash flow, and borrower strength
- Set and agree loan terms including FTV, pricing, and conditions
- Work closely with colleagues, valuers, solicitors, and brokers to drive cases to completion
- Provide clear rationale for approvals, declines, and referrals
- Monitor pipeline, prioritise cases, and manage turnaround times
- Support development of credit policy, risk appetite, and underwriting standards
- Contribute to MI reporting, including conversion rates, declines, and risk trends
- Escalate complex or high-risk cases to MD or credit committee where required
Credit Scope
- Non-regulated first charge residential bridging
- Typical loan size around £300k, up to £3m
- FTV up to 75 percent, with tighter limits based on risk
- Standard term up to 12 months
- Focus on credible exits, mainly sale or refinance
Skills and Experience
- Proven underwriting experience in bridging finance or specialist property lending
- Strong understanding of UK property market and valuation methods
- Ability to assess risk across borrower, asset, and exit
- Confident making decisions and defending them
- Experience working with brokers and managing relationships
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Strong organisation and pipeline management
- Experience in underwriting finance products (Mortgages, Personal Credit, Insurance etc.) within a mandate
- Knowledge of Shariah compliant finance structures such as Murabaha
- Exposure to bridging, development or semi-commercial finance
