As Senior Manager for Health, Safety & Environment, you will be at the forefront of everything we do to keep our people safe, our operations compliant, and our environmental commitments on track. This is a senior, highly visible role with genuine ownership, not a support function, but a driver of strategy and culture across our UK & Ireland operations.

Working closely with the Regional EHS Lead, unit managers and executive stakeholders, you will design, implement and continuously improve the infrastructure that underpins our safety and environmental performance. You will also play a central role in advancing our ESG commitments, leading sustainability initiatives and carbon reduction programmes that align with gategroup's global objectives.

  • Drive the implementation of gategroup's global EHS strategy across UK&I operations
  • Partner with senior, operational and support management on all key EHS decisions
  • Consult with senior leadership to set organisational goals, measurements and improvement roadmaps
  • Lead and coordinate risk management activities, including risk assessments, control measures and corrective action planning

Compliance & Governance

  • Develop and maintain compliance programmes aligned to UK&I regulatory requirements and commercial objectives
  • Monitor EHS key performance indicators and develop targeted improvement plans for operating units
  • Manage and maintain UK&I compliance data with accuracy and integrity
  • Support insurance claim handling, including root cause analysis, investigations, reporting and stakeholder communications

Capability Building & Training

  • Lead the design and delivery of capability-building tools and training materials for cross-functional audiences
  • Drive regulatory compliance education across all levels of the business
  • Develop indirect reports and support succession planning within the EHS function

Environment & Sustainability

  • Spearhead group ESG objectives for the Environment and Social pillars across UK&I
  • Lead environmental sustainability projects and carbon footprint reduction initiatives
  • Partner with Operational Excellence experts to drive continuous improvement in EHS-related areas
  • Continuously identify areas for risk mitigation and improvement, developing solution proposals and directing corrective actions

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills — able to influence at all levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication; confident presenting data upward to senior leadership
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable working at pace in a demanding, operationally complex environment
  • Passionate, self-motivated and solutions-focused
  • Strong IT literacy, including proficiency across Microsoft Office applications

Qualifications (Essential)

  • NEBOSH Diploma or Master's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health or a related technical discipline
  • Level 2 Food Safety in Catering (or willingness to obtain)
  • Minimum 5 years' progressive professional experience in Health & Safety
