As we continue to grow our Defence and Policing portfolio, we are seeking experienced Senior Consultants to help our clients tackle some of their most complex transformation challenges. Our work spans operating model transformation, programme delivery, organisational design, change management, digital enablement and service modernisation across policing, central government, and defence environments.

The Opportunity
Senior Consultants play a pivotal role at Gate One. They lead workstreams, build trusted client relationships and apply strong consulting expertise to deliver meaningful transformation outcomes. You will take ownership of complex project deliverables, working alongside senior client stakeholders and Gate One colleagues to solve challenging problems, shape transformation approaches and deliver lasting results. You will have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of Defence and Policing clients while developing expertise in large-scale public sector transformation and helping to grow our presence in this strategically important market.
You Will:
- Lead and Deliver Complex Transformation Programmes
- Lead workstreams within major transformation programmes across defence, policing and wider public sector organisations.
- Structure and deliver analysis, design solutions and produce high-quality client deliverables.
- Help clients define and implement operating models, governance structures, organisational change and programme delivery approaches.
- Support transformation initiatives spanning people, process, technology and culture.
- Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders and act as a credible advisor throughout project delivery.
- Work autonomously whilst collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary client and consulting teams.
- Enable clients to achieve pragmatic, measurable and sustainable transformation outcomes.
Support Business Development and Account Growth
- Support the development of Defence and Policing client accounts through relationship-building and opportunity identification.
- Contribute to proposals, bids, credentials and go-to-market activities.
- Help shape sector propositions and thought leadership.
- Participate in client discussions and support senior colleagues in converting opportunities into new engagements.
Help Build Gate One
- Contribute to internal capability development, knowledge sharing and innovation initiatives.
- Support recruitment activities, mentoring and coaching of junior consultants.
- Actively contribute to our entrepreneurial and collaborative culture.

About You
You will bring experience gained within a management consulting environment alongside a strong track record of delivering transformation within Defence, Policing, or wider Public Sector organisations. We welcome candidates who have developed their experience through a combination of consulting and industry roles. However, applicants must demonstrate sufficient consulting experience to operate successfully at Senior Consultant level.

- Previous management consulting experience, ideally within a leading consulting firm or specialist transformation consultancy.
- Experience delivering complex transformation programmes within Defence, Policing, or Central Government environments.
- Expertise in one or more transformation disciplines, including:
- Change management and adoption
- Operating model design and implementation
- Digital transformation
- Programme and project delivery
- Service transformation
- Process improvement
- Business readiness and mobilisation
- Experience leading workstreams with increasing autonomy and accountability.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Experience coaching junior team members and contributing to high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and problem-solving skills.
- Curiosity, adaptability and a passion for delivering meaningful change.
- An interest in contributing to business development and sector growth activities.
- Active UK security clearance

- Experience working with UK Defence/Central Government organisations or policing organisations.
- Understanding of government operating environments, governance structures and transformation challenges.
