Role Overview
As a Lighting Technician, you will be at the heart of ensuring our equipment is in peak condition and ready for use by our clients, who rely on our meticulous standards. You’ll be responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and quality control of lighting equipment, ensuring that our clients’ shoots run seamlessly. This role operates on a shift-based schedule, including early and late shifts and rotating weekend duties. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and be able to work quickly and efficiently. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to lift and move heavy items. Working closely with our warehouse, transport, rental desk and studio teams, you’ll be a crucial part of delivering the excellence our clients expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and prepare an extensive inventory of photographic stills, motion, and production equipment, including flash and continuous lighting gear, grip, and cabling before and after rental.
- Conduct detailed quality control checks on all equipment, identifying and troubleshooting any issues.
- Oversee the efficient turnaround of equipment between hires, ensuring quick and accurate checks after equipment returns.
- Manage stock levels and report any shortfalls or equipment faults to ensure availability for future projects.
- Provide technical support to clients remotely and on-site at our studios, ensuring they have a smooth experience with our equipment.
- Collaborate with all departments to maintain a seamless workflow during busy production schedules.
- Maintain the warehouse as directed by the warehouse manager.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication skills, able to work well with clients and team members alike.
- A proactive, collaborative mindset, ready to contribute to a dynamic team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with systems like ARRI, Profoto, Aputure, Nanlux and Broncolor.
- Advanced equipment diagnostics and repair capabilities.
- Experience with asset management software like Insphire.
- Knowledge of electrical safety and wiring related to lighting systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain lighting equipment.
- Proficiency in professional lighting systems (Flash, LED, Tungsten, HMI).
Preferred Experience: 2+ years in the film, photography, or event production industries. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as photography or film is preferred.
