We are seeking a qualified and experienced lawyer to join our Legal & Compliance team. This role will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Gartner’s sanctions compliance program, providing expert guidance on sanctions matters and other complex compliance matters, supporting the business in navigating complex regulatory environments, and conducting internal investigations, audits, and reviews. This role is critical to maintaining Gartner’s reputation and operational integrity globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and enhance Gartner’s sanctions compliance program, ensuring adherence to all applicable sanctions regimes (US, UK, EU, UN).
  • Provide legal guidance on sanctions matters and other compliance-related matters.
  • Conduct risk assessments and due diligence related to sanctions compliance including screening of clients, vendors, and partners.
  • Provide legal support and training to business units on sanctions compliance and related legal issues.
  • Monitor, assess, and interpret changes in sanctions regimes and communicate their impact to internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct comprehensive research, perform risk assessments, and provide advice on legal and regulatory matters and their impact on Gartner’s operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Conduct internal investigations, due diligence, audits, and reviews in response to compliance concerns and as part of the organization’s second line of defense.
  • Prepare and review compliance documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the broader Legal & Compliance team on other regulatory and compliance initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister in the United Kingdom (or equivalent legal qualification).
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in sanctions compliance, either in-house at a corporation or within a reputable law firm.
  • Demonstrable experience advising on UK, EU, and US sanctions regimes, with a strong understanding of global sanctions frameworks.
  • Proven ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience conducting internal investigations, due diligence, audits, or reviews.
  • Experience in developing and delivering compliance training and policies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with multinational corporations.
  • Familiarity with other areas of financial crime compliance (e.g., anti-money laundering, export controls, anti-bribery).
