About the role
Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must‑have insights, market predictions and best practices for global organizations. A Senior Director Analyst leads the Business & Technology Insights practice, producing pragmatic, provocative insights that propel Gartner clients toward key business objectives. Analysts serve as trusted advisors through virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner events. As part of Gartner’s Corporate Assurance Practice, the Senior Director Analyst focuses on advising General Counsel, legal operations leaders and other legal and compliance leaders on contracts management and contract life cycle management (CLM). The role expands coverage, requiring an entrepreneurial, self‑motivated, ideas‑driven individual to lead clients on CLM technology, market trends and best practices.
What you will do
- Create innovative, thought‑provoking insights for legal stakeholders and advise on contracts management process design and best practices across Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Supply Chain, etc.; recommend CLM technology selection; develop GenAI and Agentic AI use cases for contracts management; integrate CLM investments into the broader legal technology stack.
- Remain ahead of the curve on trends by understanding the technology and services market ecosystem related to CLM, intake and triage, contract analytics, and related markets, partnering with internal experts.
- Collaborate with peers and other experts across Legal, Supply Chain, IT Procurement to understand client challenges, evaluate vendors and establish shared thought leadership and positions on relevant issues.
- Develop in‑depth analysis to identify client challenges’ root causes and reframe thinking to drive strategy ahead.
- Research, analyze and predict market trends to provide actionable insights to clients and vendors.
- Provide actionable advice on CLM technologies through virtual or face‑to‑face interactions.
- Support sales by providing market research content and driving client engagement progress.
- Review peer research content for quality and timing, and represent Gartner insights, methodology and strategy.
- Participate actively in innovation & ideation discussions and collaborate with the insights community.
- Identify process improvements and develop new methods to enhance service delivery.
- Mentor and coach junior team members.
- Be client‑centric, engaging regularly with Gartner insights and interactions.
- Create and deliver high‑value presentation materials for Gartner events, conferences and client briefings.
What you will need
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 12+ years of relevant field or industry experience.
- Knowledge of contracts management processes, workflows and CLM technologies, including tools, playbooks, process mapping, policies and team structure.
- Understanding of how CLM investments align with broader legal department goals and coexist with other legal tech investments.
- In‑depth knowledge of vendor market, functionalities and capabilities related to CLM and related tools.
- Familiarity with primary vendors (e.g., DocuSign, Ironclad, Agiloft, Malbek) and emerging vendors.
- Working knowledge of GenAI trends and impacts on the CLM market.
- Experience advising senior leadership (GC, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Supply Chain Officer) and demonstrated executive presence.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high‑quality deliverables.
- Demonstrated excellence in research and writing.
- Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients effectively.
- Proficiency in analyzing and synthesizing data; applying patterns and frameworks to defend conclusions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts concisely.
