About the team: Enterprise for IT Leaders, Enterprise Architecture (EITL, EA) is an executive-level advisory service within the broader Gartner Executive Technology Services Product Suite that delivers expert insights and guidance tailored to each client’s context and most critical guidance tailored to each client’s context, strategy and enterprise architecture initiatives. Gartner’s Global Executive Partners team specializes in Enterprise Architecture (EA). We equip EA executives with indispensable insights, advice and tools to achieve their mission-critical priorities today and build their successful organizations of tomorrow.

What you will do:

  • You will manage a portfolio of 25-30 clients, typically Enterprise Architecture & Innovation leaders reporting to CIOs, from global Fortune 1000 organizations and government agencies.
  • As their Executive Partner, you will be delivering value through regular briefings, a mix of on-site and virtual workshops, roundtables, webinars and by attending relevant Gartner events.
  • You will use your knowledge and expertise, along with additional Gartner resources and research, to coach and mentor your clients on critical initiatives and challenges for today and tomorrow specifically within the EA space, including their own potential role development.
  • You will work closely with several internal Gartner teams to ensure value is delivered; these can include Sales teams, Account Executives, Analysts, Client Managers, and your peers across other EITL domains.
  • This role is a Client-facing position that requires a high level of Executive presence and ability to build trust and deliver value.
  • Responsible for member retention and for contributing toward growth in the region through direct support of Gartner Sales in prospect cultivation, account plan development and value demonstration activities.
  • This is a predominantly home-based role, where you will operate as an individual contributor managing your own desk and other administrative tasks; you will be delivering value to your client portfolio in a predominately virtual manner.

What you will need:

  • 15+ years’ experience with a primary focus in an executive Enterprise Architecture leader role such as Chief Enterprise Architect, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Innovation Officer, Chief Technologist, Chief Strategist, Head of Innovation Lab within a Fortune 500 company.
  • Experience in executive level roles within consulting, sales or customer facing positions.
  • Modern technical skills and subject matter expertise in the following areas:
    • Enterprise Architecture (EA)
    • Building and leading an effective business outcome driven EA program
    • Business, information, technology and solutions architecture
    • IT portfolio management and modernization
    • Federated enterprise architecture in larger organizations
    • EA governance
    • EA in a highly outsourced IT structure and across extended ecosystems
    • Key technology/solutioning areas such as Cloud, AI, CX, agile, composable architectures
    • Architecting platforms (think Amazon, eBay, Uber, etc. as business enabling platforms)
    • Innovation Leadership/Management Creating a culture of innovation
    • Funding – internal or external VC Ideation, transfer & incubation Prototypes & pilots and ‘industrialization’ of innovation
    • Technology tracking, scenario planning, horizon scanning
    • Innovation metrics and maturity – measuring innovation effectiveness and business impact
    • Innovation frameworks and environments
    • Business & reverse innovation
    • Business, Social and Technology trends and creative application of them to create business advantage including increasing ethics and sustainability goals
    • Industry Impacts, breadth of application and non-adoption risk
    • Product development life cycle.
    • Digital Business/Government, Transformation, Strategic Planning
    • Digital Business/Government strategy and roadmap – applying new, digitally enabled business models
    • Traditional business and IT strategic planning
    • People-Process-Technology transformation.
