About The Role
Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have insights, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights (BTI) group, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative insights which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.
You are primarily responsible for leading, and advising Gartner clients by researching Emerging Technology and Trends (ETT) within cybersecurity markets; specifically the AI data security and AI ecosystem data management market. You will be charged with creating and delivering both strategic and tactical advice and research content which guides Technology CEOs, Product and Innovation Leaders, Product Managers, and Marketing professionals on critical future security technologies and trends through written research reports, presentations, teleconference inquiries, and briefings. You will mentor and guide your research and elaborate on the evolution and impacts of those emerging technologies in the security market. During a research project, you will work closely with adjacent covering analysts, case-based researchers, and service delivery associates across Gartner, to deliver a world‑class experience for our technology provider membership subscriptions.

What You Will Do
- Primarily, develop thought‑leading advice on the emergence, adoption and disruptions that emerging technologies bring to bear on the AI data security and AI ecosystem data management across the world.
- Work with Gartner clients and their teams while reflecting the research in meeting conversations, and as a speaker, either face‑to‑face, or via videoconference.
- Grow the ETT team’s network of thought leaders (academics, investors, etc.), startups, and vendors that the research team can draw on for interviews, case‑based research and emergent disruptive security technologies and trends.
- Provide tailored inquiries and briefings for Gartner clients on Emerging Technologies in the Security Markets; specifically AI data security and AI ecosystem data management.
- Ensure integrity of research & analysis of the team.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree; Graduate degree preferred or equivalent experience in cybersecurity field with specific relevance to AI data security and AI ecosystem data management.
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Must be familiar with the AI data security and AI ecosystem data management market as well as typical service offerings, best practices, commonly used technologies, and vendors for client engagements and for research related to:
- Cloud and on‑premises data visibility, classification, monitoring and protection.
- Data management for AI model training, management, learning and governance.
- Data security for data at rest, in‑flight, and use – encryption, tokenization.
- AI security platform architecture as it relates to data management.
- Experience with (or able to quickly learn) tools and data sources such as Pitchbook, CapIQ, TechCrunch, Bloomberg, and other forecast/financial data.
- Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables.
- Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability.
- Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.
- Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges.
- Strong communication skills – able to explain complex concepts concisely and simply.
- Subject matter expertise; comfortable presenting at large and small‑scale speaking engagements.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Deep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within subject area as well as the interplay in that market.
- Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team.
- Learning agile and adept with navigating highly matrixed environments.
- Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (where applicable).
