Are you passionate about inspiring children to be active and reach their full potential? Do you want to make a real difference through PE and sport?

We are looking for an enthusiastic PE and Sports Teaching Assistant to join our school's PE department. At Garlinge we pride ourselves on our commitment to PE and school sport and offer all our children fantastic resources and opportunities to engage in a rich and varied PE curriculum.

As we are an inclusive school this role may involve working with children with physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, SEMH needs and complex barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will have excellent sports and PE knowledge, ideally with a minimum Level 1 qualification in Sport. You will ideally have experience of the PE / Sports curriculum within a school setting and experience of working with complex barriers to learning is desirable.

We require a good standard of general education and GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above are desirable.

The hours are 26 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 6.5 hours per day. Whilst the core working hours will be between 8.15am and 4.15pm each day there will be a degree of flexibility required depending on clubs and fixtures and so working times may vary.

The role is term-time only (38 weeks per year). This is a fixed term contract until 31 August 2027.

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and a check against the ISA Barred List for Children, two satisfactory references and right to work in the UK documentation. All new employees to the school, including those with previous local government service, shall be subject to a 6-month probationary period.
