This major European IP law firm has an excellent opportunity for a part- or fully-qualified Patent Attorney to join their thriving and top-level Biotech patents practice in London. Their highly-rated team of patent attorneys supports some of the world's leading biotechnology companies across the full spectrum of biotechnologies, from diagnostics to therapeutics, and including platform and manufacturing technologies.
Their patent work is commercially focused, and mostly contentious in nature, and includes major multi-party oppositions, appeals and litigation support. To succeed in this role, you will need to enjoy thinking strategically and working collaboratively, and be passionate about using your technical excellence to deliver a first-class patents service to clients.
You should ideally have:
- an excellent academic background, ideally with an emphasis on biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or genetic engineering;
- part to full qualification in the UK and EQE exams, through to circa 5 years of post-qualification experience;
- experience in managing a broad spectrum of biotechnology patents work, ideally including in drafting, filing and prosecuting EPO and PCT applications, and familiarity with sequence listings and deposit requirements;
- an understanding of EPO opposition and appeal procedure (ideally with some experience of contentious oral proceedings).
