We're looking for a Finance Assistant to join GardX and play an important role in keeping our day‑to‑day finance operations running smoothly.

A Little About GardX

This is to support the Go Smart area which specialises in SMART (Small to Medium Area Repair Technology), helping customers get their vehicles looking their best without the inconvenience of traditional bodyshop repairs.

Our mobile repair technicians provide convenient, high‑quality cosmetic vehicle repairs, including paintwork scratches, scuffs and alloy wheel damage.

Working with customers and insurance providers across the UK, we’re a growing, customer‑focused business with exciting plans for the future.

What You Will Be Doing

You will enjoy a varied, hands‑on role supporting the day‑to‑day finance function, including:

• Managing sales and purchase ledgers, including invoicing, payments and reconciliations.
• Completing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
• Handling customer account queries and supporting credit control.
• Processing supplier invoices and assisting with payment runs.
• Supporting month‑end processes and preparing basic management accounts.
• Assisting with payroll administration, including preparing payroll information and maintaining accurate records.
• Keeping financial records organised, accurate and up to date.
• Supporting general finance administration and helping improve everyday processes.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who's organised, reliable and happy to get involved!

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar role.
• A good understanding of sales ledger, purchase ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Some experience of payroll administration.
• Exposure to month‑end processes and management accounts.
• Good Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• A positive, friendly approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

AAT qualified or studying towards AAT? That's a bonus!

But we're equally interested in someone with solid, practical finance experience.

The Details

Job Title: Finance Assistant
Location: Port Solent, Portsmouth
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home
