Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – Brighton, 50% Branch + 50% Hospital
The Role: You will be a key member of the veterinary practice team, comfortable with all aspects of veterinary work, including consulting, surgery, diagnostic imaging (x-rays, ultrasound) and managing most medical cases independently. The position offered includes work at a branch near Telscombe, which is a 2 vets/3 nurses branch, equipped with theatre, x-ray and ultrasound, where you would provide daily consultation and surgeries, with occasional sole charge. Patients in need of hospitalisation and ongoing care can be transferred to our hospital, situated 5 miles away. At the hospital the caseload will be varied, with both emergency and advanced medical cases referred to us from our five branch practices and local practices that we support. You will be an experienced and approachable team player who demonstrates excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues, and be able to deliver outstanding client service, with a good understanding of contextualised care.
- 40 hours per week
- 4 days a week
- 1 weekend in 5 at the hospital and Monday off in lieu
- Second on-call rota (1 in 15 weeks)
The Practice: You will be joining a long established group who have been providing outstanding care to the region’s pets for 45 years. Their fantastic team of passionate professionals are dedicated to excellence in veterinary medicine. They have a large, purpose-built central Brighton hospital, plus 5 fully equipped branch practices and cover OOH for multiple other practices in the Brighton area. The hospital has a range of high-tech equipment including CT scan, ultrasound, digital x-ray, laparoscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. They have dedicated cat, dog, exotic, isolation, and day procedure wards, with a fantastic nurse and support team to work alongside. The team has multiple certificate holders and staff members with a huge range of clinical interests and expertise, including referral services for orthopaedics, ophthalmology, advanced imaging, and exotics. They run a fully staffed out-of-hours team alongside the day team at the hospital. They are committed to continuing the further development of their team members, with ample opportunity for learning and development through dedicated in-house and external CPD.
The Area: Brighton is a welcoming and diverse city with a passion for culture, it also boasts an abundance of shops and award-winning restaurants. For lovers of the outdoors, it has eight miles of glorious beach on its doorstep and borders the magnificent South Downs National Park. There are great travel links with London only a one-hour train journey away and proximity to Gatwick airport.
