We are looking for a diligent and hard working full time LGV driver with lorry loader (Hiab) predominantly based at our West Worthing Builders Merchants but may be asked to give cover at other branches.

Who are we? Gardner & Scardifield is a local family owned Builders Merchants, Electrical Wholesalers and DIY Suppliers based in Lancing, but operating throughout Sussex. We have a long and fascinating history of circa 100 years, and have been under current ownership since the 1970’s. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Delivering building materials and goods on a LGV, ensuring the correct goods arrive in excellent condition and to scheduled times.
  • Providing excellent customer service and being a good representative of the company, handling all customers, suppliers, colleagues and other road users with courtesy at all times.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed daily (e.g. tacho, daily checks & delivery tickets).
  • Carry out general maintenance to vehicles (e.g. greasing, fluid levels) and ensure cleanliness of vehicle.
  • Although based at Worthing branch, you may be asked to give cover at other branches.
  • Support the operations of the branch yard when not needed for driving.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience of driving an LGV and lorry loader (Hiab) is required.
  • Up to date CPC qualification is required.
  • Previous experience of working in the building industry is preferred.
  • Previous forklift operation experience is preferred.
