The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.
Working across our Derby and Consett sites. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Machine Technician (Modig Specific) to join our maintenance team. The majority of time will be spent at Derby with ad hoc visits to our Consett site. Travel to Poland may be required. Modig Specific experience would be preferred, but full training on the machine will be provided.
Initial 6 week training period in Kalmar, Sweden.

Purpose of role and key accountabilities:
- Become technical lead with all things to do with Modig Supplied milling machines.
- Lead efficiency improvement initiatives such as breakdown eliminations and labour hour reductions associated with preventive maintenance activities.
- Focus on improving mean time to repair (MTR) and maximising mean time between failure (MTBF).
- Design, build, and improve operator lead maintenance activities with the overall goal of establishing a TPM strategy.
- Work with external suppliers/contractors to provide expert lead solutions to complex problems, building up technical knowledge of each asset.
- Identify critical spares for each asset and agree with Derby and Consett site maintenance teams what inventory levels need to be at hand.
- Inspect equipment in accordance with aerospace standards and procedures relating to machine status and documentation control.
- Provide leadership and coordination between internal departments and vendors.
- Coordinate with local site management to ensure proper training, procedural compliance, maintenance, and safety practices are followed for new and existing equipment.
- Effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors.
- Develop maintenance standards, documentation, and practices.
- Develop and mentor technicians to improve asset performance, reliability, and site technical expertise.
- Travel between Gardner sites is essential when support is required.
Core skills/attributes needed:
- Electrically biased maintenance background with good understanding of working in a heavy machinery environment.
- A good understanding of mechanical principles.
- Understand/read engineering drawings and schematics.
- Omron PLC fault finding skills.
- Understanding of motor controls, drives, inverters etc.
- Fanuc robot recovery and programming knowledge advantageous.
- Actively participate in training and development and adherence to agreed skills.
- Has a positive attitude to interaction with the wider business team.
- Promote Continuous Improvement and Health & Safety activities.
- Eager to improve both themselves, others, and the department.
- HNC, Time Served Apprenticeship or equivalent within an engineering discipline.
