Derby | Maintenance Engineer MODIG We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer MODIG to join our team at our Derby site. Salary💷 £18.01 per hour plus 9% Shift allowance 48 hours: Monday – Thursday: 6.00am - 18.00pm Benefits * Company pension scheme * 25 days annual leave + 8 statutory holidays, Christmas shut down * BUPA Health care * Free onsite parking * Death in Service benefit * Long Service awards Purpose of role and key accountabilities: We are looking for an experienced and proactive MODIG Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering and facilities team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving the site’s facilities, buildings, plant and associated services. You will play a key role in ensuring that all facilities and equipment remain safe, reliable, compliant and operational, while supporting the wider engineering team to minimise downtime and maintain a high standard of workplace facilities. This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, takes ownership of their work and can work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team. Key Responsibilities: * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site. * Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and general building-services faults. * Maintain site infrastructure, including lighting, power supplies, heating, ventilation, water, drainage and other building services. * Maintain and inspect facilities equipment and systems in accordance with relevant legislation and company procedures. * Respond promptly to breakdowns and facilities-related issues. * Support the management and maintenance of critical site services. * Carry out routine inspections of buildings, plant, equipment and facilities. * Identify potential faults and implement preventative measures before failures occur. * Assist with the installation, modification and commissioning of new facilities equipment and services. * Liaise with external contractors and specialist service providers where required. * Ensure contractors work safely and in accordance with site procedures and permit-to-work requirements. * Maintain accurate maintenance records, job reports and documentation. * Support statutory inspections and ensure actions arising from inspections are completed. * Assist with health, safety and environmental compliance across the site. * Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency and maintenance processes. * Maintain a clean, safe and organised engineering/facilities work environment. * Participate in emergency response and out-of-hours support arrangements where required. Essential Skills and Experience: Recognised engineering qualification or relevant practical engineering experience. Previous experience in facilities, building services, manufacturing or industrial maintenance. Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience. Ability to fault-find effectively and identify the root cause of problems. Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals. Good understanding of health and safety requirements within an engineering environment. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Good communication and interpersonal skills. A practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail. Desirable Experience: Experience in some or all of the following would be advantageous: Electrical distribution and industrial electrical systems. Mechanical plant and machinery. Recognised safety qualifications – IOSH / NEBOSH HVAC and ventilation systems. Compressed air systems. Pumps and water systems. Building management systems (BMS). Fire alarm and fire protection systems. Emergency lighting. Generators and UPS systems. Energy management and energy-saving initiatives. Contractor management. (RAMS) Permit-to-work systems. Statutory compliance and inspection regimes. CMMS / maintenance management systems.
