Overview

Are you someone who has a passion for creating great experiences? We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic people to join our team as part-time visitor experience assistants at the Pitt Rivers Museum.

The Pitt Rivers Museum showcases over 500,000 objects of anthropology and world archaeology. The Visitor Experience team are at the heart of the museum, sharing its stories and histories with visitors from everywhere.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming all visitors and making everyone feel at home and inspired.
  • Developing a good knowledge of the collections, their stories and importance.
  • Working as part of a varied team and providing introductions and welcome to visiting groups.
  • Working in the shop, encouraging donations, and supporting other museum teams.
  • Learning to use the museum database and other systems.
  • Promoting the museum’s trails, activities and events.

Role Details

This is a permanent, part-time role working 13.5 hours per week. Shifts will take place during museum opening hours: 9:45am – 5:00pm, Tuesdays – Sundays; and 11:45am – 5:00pm on Mondays. Primarily weekends, with opportunities for additional shifts, including bank holidays and evening shifts. Please note this role does not offer remote working.

About You

We are looking for people with an avid interest in museums who are passionate about delivering great experiences for everyone. You will work well as part of a dynamic team, while being friendly, approachable and proactive. In a busy visitor-facing environment, you will be a strong communicator who is reliable and punctual. This role includes standing and walking for several hours per day; reasonable adjustments can be made. Full training will be provided, which will include retail.
