Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum, part of the University of Oxford’s Gardens, Libraries and Museums division, welcomes over 200,000 visitors each year and relies on strong supporter engagement to sustain its work. Membership plays a vital role in supporting research, conservation, education and public engagement.

The Friends and Patrons Membership Manager will oversee the membership programmes of the Friends of OBGA and Patrons (the Bobarts and the Danby Groups) – with responsibility for the strategic recruitment of new members. Responsibilities include managing the membership programmes, membership communications both online and in print, creating and coordinating events and activities. You will line manage an administrative officer who will support the logistical elements of the different membership schemes. You will expand the membership, maintain and improve all the membership materials and communications and work to implement an effective membership renewal programme. This is a permanent part-time post, working 22.5 hours per week. The anticipated working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate and will include occasional evening or weekend work to support events.

You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience, with substantial experience of working within a successful membership scheme or similar commercial or fundraising environment. You will have experience of delivering growth and retention strategies, alongside event and line management experience. You will be highly organised, confident using databases and IT systems, and experienced in office administration and customer service. You will have excellent written communication skills and a strong working knowledge of GDPR and Gift Aid regulations. Experience within a heritage, cultural or charity setting would be desirable.
