Gapp Search are working with a growing, family-run electrical contractor who are looking to appoint an Electrical Contracts Manager to support a strong pipeline of work. The company delivers electrical projects across pubs, hotels, leisure venues, schools, and other commercial environments, with typical project values of up to £250,000. The role will be around 80% office-based, with regular site and client interaction as required.
This is a hands-on contracts management role where you will be responsible for running multiple live projects, keeping clients updated, managing costs, coordinating materials and ensuring projects are delivered properly from start to finish.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing multiple electrical projects at the same time, typically across commercial, leisure, education, hospitality and similar environments.
- Taking projects from handover through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and to the required standard.
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, site teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and project documents.
- Ordering materials and managing procurement to ensure projects are properly resourced.
- Coordinating labour, subcontractors and site requirements across live projects.
- Monitoring project costs, margins, variations and overall commercial performance.
- Attending client, site and progress meetings where required.
- Ensuring works are compliant with relevant electrical standards and company procedures.
- Supporting quality control, sign-off, handover and completion documentation.
- Acting as Qualifying Supervisor where required and signing off your own work.
- Dealing with day-to-day project issues and keeping works moving without unnecessary delays.
- Maintaining strong communication with clients and ensuring a professional service is delivered throughout.
Requirements
- Strong electrical background, ideally coming from the tools before moving into project or contracts management.
- Previous experience as an Electrical Contracts Manager, Electrical Project Manager or similar.
- Experience managing commercial electrical projects, ideally across pubs, hotels, leisure, schools or similar environments.
- Ability to manage several smaller projects at the same time.
- Able to act as a Qualifying Supervisor and sign off electrical work.
- Good understanding of drawings, specifications, materials, procurement and site delivery.
- Commercially aware, with the ability to track costs, manage variations and protect project margin.
- Strong client-facing skills and comfortable dealing directly with customers.
- Organised, practical and able to keep multiple moving parts under control.
- Good communication skills with clients, site teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Relevant electrical qualifications and up-to-date industry knowledge.
