We’re recruiting for an established international engineering and manufacturing business looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of electrical systems across modular HVAC, packaged plant room and capital equipment projects.
This is a technically focused role combining hands‑on electrical design, compliance and close collaboration with mechanical, controls and manufacturing teams.
What you’ll be doing
- Produce electrical designs in line with project specifications and internal standards
- Carry out supply, load, earthing and cable sizing assessments
- Prepare load schedules, cable calculations and protection studies
- Produce Single Line Diagrams, cable schedules, switchboard layouts and earthing diagrams
- Use Trimble ProDesign or equivalent software for electrical calculations and design
- Review P&IDs, mechanical information and equipment data to inform designs
- Ensure designs comply with BS 7671 and other applicable electrical standards
- Support design reviews and technical assurance
- Maintain accurate drawing revisions, design records and change documentation
- Work closely with mechanical, controls, manufacturing and project teams
- Support production and procurement with technical queries and design changes
- Contribute to design standardisation and continuous improvement
What we’re looking for
You’ll need previous electrical design experience within building services, packaged plant rooms, industrial systems or a similar engineering environment.
You should also have:
- Degree, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Strong working knowledge of BS 7671:2018
- Experience producing SLDs, cable schedules and electrical calculations
- Good understanding of earthing, bonding, protection and discrimination
- Experience using Trimble ProDesign or equivalent electrical design software
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, P&IDs and equipment data
- Strong technical documentation and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
Experience with modular plant, BIM/Revit or CAD-based electrical drafting would be advantageous.
