We are working with a growing mechanical contractor who is looking to appoint a Mechanical Project Manager to oversee a range of commercial projects across East London and surrounding areas. This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys running multiple projects, keeping tight control of programme and costs, and being trusted to manage work from pre-start through to completion.
The Role
- You will be responsible for managing mechanical building services projects typically ranging from £50,000 to £2 million in value.
- Projects will be mainly commercial, covering works such as offices, schools, healthcare, leisure, retail, and similar environments.
- You will be client-facing, commercially aware, and able to coordinate labour, subcontractors, suppliers, design information, procurement, and programme delivery.
Duties will include:
- Managing mechanical projects from handover through to completion
- Overseeing projects valued from £50k to £2m
- Managing site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist trades
- Attending client, contractor, and site meetings
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, programmes, and project documentation
- Procuring materials and managing supplier relationships
- Monitoring costs, variations, margins, and project profitability
- Ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required standard
- Liaising with clients, consultants, main contractors, and internal teams
- Producing progress updates and reporting back to senior management
- Supporting commissioning, handover, O&M information, and project close-out
Requirements:
- Mechanical building services background
- Experience managing commercial mechanical projects
- Comfortable running projects from around £50k up to £2m
- Strong knowledge of mechanical services including pipework, plantrooms, ventilation, heating, chilled water, public health, and associated systems
- Able to manage labour, subcontractors, procurement, programme, and cost control
- Commercially aware with experience managing variations and project margins
- Confident dealing directly with clients, main contractors, and consultants
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Based within reasonable travel distance of East London
