We are working with an established European construction group that is delivering a major commercial retrofit project in Central London. The project involves the refurbishment of around 10,000m² of high-end office space. They are now looking for an Assistant MEP Manager to join the project team and support the delivery of the mechanical and electrical services.
This is a hands-on role working closely with the MEP Manager, subcontractors, consultants and the wider site team. It is likely to suit someone with one to four years' experience working for a building services contractor who wants to develop into a broader project delivery role.
Unlike some MEP positions within a main contractor, this role will involve direct involvement in the detail of the building services packages, including design information, procurement, installation, quality and programme.
The role will include:
- Supporting the procurement of MEP subcontractors, equipment and materials
- Managing technical submissions and reviewing drawings
- Coordinating design information with consultants and subcontractors
- Monitoring the installation of mechanical and electrical services
- Carrying out quality inspections and helping resolve site issues
- Supporting the MEP programme and tracking progress
- Assisting with contract administration and change management
- Coordinating services with the architectural and structural elements of the project
- Supporting health and safety management
- Assisting with testing, commissioning, snagging and handover
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- One to four years' experience with a building services or MEP contractor
- A BEng, HNC or similar qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Some experience reviewing technical drawings and design information
- A practical understanding of how mechanical and electrical services are installed on site
- Good communication and organisational skills
- The confidence to work with subcontractors, consultants and site teams
- Experience on commercial fit-out, refurbishment or retrofit projects would be useful, although it is not essential.
This is a good opportunity for an Assistant MEP Manager, Building Services Engineer or MEP Project Engineer who wants more responsibility and exposure across the full project lifecycle. The company has a strong European background and is continuing to grow its London operation. The role offers the chance to join a technically strong project team and develop towards an MEP Manager position.
