Job Description Engineering Team Leader £Days Only (Mon-Fri) gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Senior Engineer to work at their facility based near Trafford Park Performance Objectives We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineer to lead our engineering team at our Trafford manufacturing facility. You'll take ownership of equipment reliability, regulatory maintenance, health & safety, and spares control while directly leading a team of two (one Engineer, one Junior Engineer) and remaining hands-on with fault-finding and improvement work yourself. Provide direct leadership of the engineering team prioritising workload, coaching best practice, and identifying where skills need developing. Own and continuously improve the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programme across ultrasonic welding equipment, nonwoven converting/processing lines, and supporting plant, ensuring it's completed on schedule with minimal production impact. Respond to and resolve breakdowns, diagnosing faults in a timely manner to keep production downtime to a minimum. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) of recurring faults and drive corrective/preventive action to prevent re-occurrence. Own the site's regulatory maintenance and compliance programme, supporting internal and external audits with accurate records. Own site health & safety compliance for engineering activities: risk assessments, safe systems of work, permit-to-work, LOTO, and lead accident/near-miss investigations. Support new equipment installation and commissioning and liaise with external contractors and technical support as required. Drive continuous improvement within the team to increase OEE, reduce waste, and improve process consistency. Maintain accurate records for equipment, services, and regulatory documentation. Input into recruitment, training plans, and team development as the department grows. Educated to HNC/degree level in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or related) - or time-served with equivalent qualification (ONC, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds) and proven experience; Proven experience in a maintenance/engineering role within a manufacturing environment. Competent working across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic/compressed air systems. Working knowledge of health & safety regulations in a manufacturing setting. Experience with ultrasonic welding equipment. Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (PPE, medical device, or similar), including audit and documentation practices. NEBOSH/IOSH qualification. Flexible to occasional overtime to support the team and meet production demands.
