gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Testing Technician to work at their facility based near Deeside.

Performance Objectives

  • Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on cables and heater systems to verify performance and quality standards.
  • Perform routine and specialized electrical testing on mineral-insulated cable systems.
  • Prepare cable samples and perform medium voltage terminations for testing.
  • Conduct tensile and hardness testing as part of QA/QC processes.
  • Support R&D initiatives aimed at improving cable performance.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of testing materials and equipment.
  • Uphold and promote strict adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough records of test procedures, calibrations, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide general production support as needed.

Person Specification

Testing Equipment Experience (Preferred):

  • Line frequency HiPot (up to 50kV).
  • Very low frequency (VLF) HiPot.
  • DC Insulation Testing.
  • Tan-Delta Testing.
  • Power Analysis Meters.
  • Inductance and Capacitance Meters.
  • High Current Injection.
  • Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR).
  • Fault Finding.
  • Data Acquisition and Logging Equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of QA/QC experience with electrical systems and test equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems and safety standards within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office for record-keeping and report generation.
  • Practical experience with hand and power tools.
