gap technical are proud to be representing a leading UK research and innovation campus in seeking an experienced Engineering Operations Manager to take a key leadership role within its campus engineering team. This is a senior, hands-on management role responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance and development of campus infrastructure and engineering services. You will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, manage minor works projects, and coordinate both in-house engineering teams and specialist contractors. Supporting the Head of Engineering, you will also help drive operational improvements, support strategic planning and budgeting, and step in to lead the department when required.
Performance Objectives
- Leading the delivery of planned preventative maintenance programmes
- Managing building and civil engineering maintenance, including roads, drainage and campus infrastructure
- Overseeing an engineering helpdesk and asset management system
- Managing contractors, suppliers and in-house technical teams
- Supporting capital planning, procurement and project delivery
- Deputising for the Head of Engineering and supporting business continuity and H&S response when required
Person Specification
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or similar (HNC or above)
- Experience managing maintenance operations within a complex estate, campus, or facilities environment
- Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems and building management systems
- Experience managing contractors, budgets and small to medium engineering projects
- Strong leadership, organisation and stakeholder management skills
- NEBOSH qualification (desirable)
