Performance Objectives

  • You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure that all operations run efficiently to meet the organisation's goals, manage and optimise the processes of a business relating to production, maintenance and inventory control.
  • You will lead a team of production supervisors and workers, driving continuous improvement initiatives and implementing best practices to optimise processes and achieve operational excellence.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met.
  • The candidate will need to show leadership ability to drive transformational cultural change to enable the business to deliver operational efficiency.
  • Proven track record of success in driving operational excellence, improving manufacturing processes, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with company objectives to maximise productivity and profitability.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and evaluate manufacturing performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, quality assurance, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and execution of manufacturing plans.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimisation, to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
  • Drive production planning and achieve operational efficiencies with tools.
  • Manage customer audits and ensure necessary corrective actions are taken.
  • Manage customer queries and guide them through the manufacturing process and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, promoting a safe work environment and implementing appropriate training programs and safety measures.
  • Develop and manage manufacturing budgets, controlling costs and expenses while optimising resource utilisation.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with internal stakeholders, providing regular updates on manufacturing performance, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Assist in new product launches, production and engineering improvements, product quality.
  • Lead and facilitate monthly safety meetings and lead/assist in the resolution of safety items.

Person Specification

  • Experienced in improving and implementing processes into a complex manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in production or operations management within a similar complex process manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of leading complex manufacturing processes and implementing process improvements.
  • Proficiency in process engineering and production workflows.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems for production planning and resource management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience or knowledge with quality standards.

Desirable Experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).
  • Project Management Certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Health and Safety Certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely).
