Plant Facilities Maintenance Engineer

Mon-Thurs: 8:00 – 17:15, Fri: 8:00 – 16:15
Wrexham, North Wales
gap technical are seeking a Plant Facilities Maintenance Engineer for our client based in Wrexham.
The site is one of the company's award-winning manufacturing facilities in Europe.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Facilities Maintenance Department – a key function responsible for managing and implementing maintenance projects throughout the factory, supporting Production, Moulding, and Automation teams.
Performance Objectives

  • Provide electrical and mechanical support across multiple departments to maintain smooth operation of facilities and production systems.
  • Carry out electrical installation, mechanical maintenance and installation work in line with company Safe Systems of Work and Isolation Policy.
  • Undertake general facility maintenance and improvement of services, including managing and sourcing contractors for multiple projects.
  • Work to a planned schedule of maintenance activities while maintaining flexibility to support Production and Moulding operations as required.
  • Apply basic PLC programming knowledge to make minor program adjustments as needed.
  • Identify and deliver energy-saving improvements and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support TPM schedules and respond to production system breakdowns, including maintenance of automation equipment.

Person Specification

  • Apprentice Trained Engineer.
  • 18th Edition IEE Regulations qualification (desirable).
  • Experience or knowledge of small building projects, such as plumbing or boiler/heating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design, review, and implement improvements in facility operations.
  • Well-organised with excellent attention to detail and confident in managing renovation and repair projects.
  • Effective communicator who collaborates well across departments.
  • Motivated to continually improve knowledge and drive personal development.
  • Committed to working safely and taking ownership of tasks.
