We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join our engineering team at a fast-paced food manufacturing site. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production and site equipment to ensure maximum uptime, safety, and compliance with food industry standards.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production and packaging machinery
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on PLC-controlled systems, motors, drives, sensors, and control panels
- Support mechanical maintenance activities when required
- Ensure all work is completed in line with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth operations
Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment (highly desirable). Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Experience with PLCs (fault finding only), inverters, and automated machinery. Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent). Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings. Good understanding of mechanical systems (gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pneumatics). Knowledge of food safety standards such as BRC, HACCP, or GMP.
Competitive salary of £49,000. Stable Monday to Friday day shift (6am-2pm). Opportunity to work in a modern food manufacturing facility. Ongoing training and development. Pension scheme. Holiday entitlement plus bank holidays.
