Maintenance Engineer £40 per hour 4 on 4 off Days Gloucester. Gap technical are representing a market-leading automated logistics and warehousing business seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to provide contract maintenance engineering services at their Gloucester site.

The successful engineer will provide electrical and multi-skilled maintenance engineering services to support the reliability, availability, and performance of highly automated warehouse and material handling systems.

Key Service Deliverables
  • Provision of reactive breakdown support to minimise unplanned downtime across automated warehouse systems
  • Execution of planned and preventative maintenance activities aligned with site maintenance schedules
  • Electrical fault diagnosis using schematics, diagnostics, and asset history
  • Identification and rectification of recurring equipment faults, including implementation of permanent corrective actions
  • Maintenance and optimisation of automated material handling equipment, including cranes, conveyors, sortation systems, motors, gearboxes, drives, and sensors
  • PLC fault-finding and interrogation to support rapid fault resolution and system recovery
  • Support for system reliability, uptime, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaboration with operations, engineering, controls, and safety teams to ensure safe and efficient warehouse operation
  • Support for equipment modifications, upgrades, shutdowns, commissioning, and refurbishment activities
  • All services delivered in compliance with site health, safety, and permit-to-work systems
Contractor Profile
  • Time-served engineer or demonstrable equivalent industry experience
  • Strong electrical bias with proven experience in automated warehouse, intralogistics, distribution, or FMCG environments
  • Proven capability working with: 3-phase electrical systems, motors, drives, inverters, sensors, and safety circuits
  • PLC fault-finding (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar)
  • Automated material handling and warehouse control systems
  • Previous experience providing services as a maintenance engineering contractor
  • Able to manage workload and priorities independently, working with minimal direction
  • Strong communication skills when liaising with site stakeholders
  • Availability to support a 4 on 4 off day shift pattern
