This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining and improving a fast‑paced production environment. As a Shift Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of plant services, troubleshooting live issues, and driving continuous improvement.
Performance Objectives
- Troubleshoot live plant issues and drive them through to resolution.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks to the required standard.
- Maintain and support the site SCADA system, liaising with contracted providers when necessary.
- Ensure automated processes consistently deliver product to the filling lines efficiently.
- Support the Tankhouse team with day‑to‑day maintenance and utilities plant operations, including refrigeration, effluent treatment, boilers, and water treatment.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, resolving faults independently and identifying root causes to prevent recurrence.
- Diagnose line data and management systems to maximise line efficiency.
- Maintain calibration records and ensure compliance with GMP, HMRC, and site safety procedures.
- Oversee contractors\’ work, issuing permits to work and ensuring compliance with service contracts.
- Actively contribute to projects within the Beverages plant.
Person Specification
- Time‑served multi‑skilled engineer with HNC (or equivalent).
- At least 5 years\’ experience in high‑speed beverages production.
- Strong automation and PLC knowledge.
- Experience with utilities plants (refrigeration, effluent treatment, boilers, water treatment).
- Proactive, problem‑solving approach with the ability to work independently under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills, capable of prioritising workloads and coordinating contractors.
- Safety‑conscious, with a commitment to GMP, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across functions.
