gap technical are proud to be representing this manufacturing business in their search for a CNC Machinist to work at their facility based near Burnley.
Performance Objectives
- Perform CNC operations using a variety of different machines - including lathes, milling, and Laser equipment.
- Working in conjunction with the manufacturing engineers and CNC programmer, operate the CNC to meet the daily production targets.
- Produce and edit NC programs via the machine control and/or ISO code.
- Ensure that full documentation is kept up to date detailing the CNC path, featuring and tooling information.
- Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Assist in solving manufacturing and quality issues utilising root cause and analysis tools.
- Sharing knowledge and experience and support coaching and mentoring to new employees and apprentices.
Person Specification
- Proven CNC 5xis Milling experience (This is a key requirement)
- Experience working within tight tolerances (preferably aerospace or similar high-precision industries)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with relevant controls (e.g. Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, Mazatrol)
- Understanding of tooling, offsets, and basic programme adjustments
- Evidence of maintaining quality standards and working to SOPs
Desirable experience:
- Aerospace or gas turbine component experience
- Multi-axis machining (3, 4, or 5 axis)
- Experience with probing systems (e.g. Renishaw)
- Involvement in continuous improvement or lean activities
- Ability to carry out basic fault finding and problem solving on machines
