Are you an experienced Refrigeration and Maintenance Engineer looking for a career-defining opportunity in a tropical paradise? Our client, a prominent food manufacturing and distribution business operating across the Eastern Caribbean, is seeking a highly skilled Refrigeration Engineer to join their team in Barbados.
This is a full-time, permanent role offering a competitive tax-friendly salary, relocation assistance, and housing allowance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain refrigeration and maintenance systems across the Eastern Caribbean, including distribution warehouses and retail stores.
- Ensure operational uptime through preventative maintenance and continuous improvement strategies.
- Lead and provide technical support to maintenance personnel and project teams across multiple islands.
- Oversee system diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades for industrial ammonia and Freon-based refrigeration systems.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety, environmental protocols, and regional labour laws.
- Manage inventory of critical spares and monitor the reliability of electrical and mechanical systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ supervisory or managerial experience in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in:
- Ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems
- Industrial electrical and mechanical systems
- PLC troubleshooting and electrical control systems
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Health and safety regulations
- Environmental safety systems
- Inventory management and maintenance planning
