Our client, a prominent food manufacturing and distribution business operating across the Eastern Caribbean, is seeking a highly skilled Refrigeration Engineer to join their team in Barbados.

This is a full-time, permanent role offering a competitive tax-friendly salary, relocation assistance, and housing allowance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain refrigeration and maintenance systems across the Eastern Caribbean, including distribution warehouses and retail stores.
  • Ensure operational uptime through preventative maintenance and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Lead and provide technical support to maintenance personnel and project teams across multiple islands.
  • Oversee system diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades for industrial ammonia and Freon-based refrigeration systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety, environmental protocols, and regional labour laws.
  • Manage inventory of critical spares and monitor the reliability of electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ supervisory or managerial experience in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in:
  • Ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems
  • Industrial electrical and mechanical systems
  • PLC troubleshooting and electrical control systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Health and safety regulations
  • Environmental safety systems
  • Inventory management and maintenance planning
