This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior VAT professional to take on a strategic leadership role within a market-leading indirect tax team, working with a diverse portfolio of multinational and domestic clients on complex, high-profile projects across multiple sectors.
The Opportunity: Our client is recognised for delivering innovative tax solutions and helping organisations navigate increasingly complex indirect tax challenges. As Director, you will play a key role in driving the growth and strategic direction of the VAT practice, while leading major client engagements and developing high-performing teams. This position is ideally suited to an accomplished indirect tax specialist with extensive advisory experience and a strong track record of managing complex UK and international VAT matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership across the indirect tax practice, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence and innovation.
- Lead the delivery of complex VAT advisory engagements for a broad client base.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
- Drive business development initiatives, identifying and securing new opportunities for growth.
- Oversee and support the successful delivery of cross-border indirect tax projects.
- Collaborate closely with other service lines to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
- Mentor, coach and develop team members, supporting career progression and technical excellence.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and execution of the practice's strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Significant experience (8+ years) in UK indirect tax advisory within a leading accountancy, consulting or in-house tax environment.
- Deep technical expertise in VAT, with experience advising on complex cross-border transactions and supply chain matters.
- A proven ability to lead large-scale client engagements and manage senior stakeholder relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness and business development capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Outstanding leadership, mentoring and team management experience.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional service delivery standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ACA, ACCA, ATT, CTA or equivalent tax/accountancy qualification.
- Additional expertise across broader indirect taxes and emerging tax technologies would be advantageous.
