GAP Talent is partnering with a growing resort group in the Caribbean to appoint a Chief Engineer for one of their flagship properties. The portfolio includes five properties, with the lead resort comprising 300 rooms set along one of the region’s most sought-after beachfront locations.
The Chief Engineer will lead all engineering and maintenance operations across the property, ensuring optimal performance of all mechanical, electrical, and physical assets. This role oversees a team of approximately 30 technicians, alongside a Deputy Chief Engineer.
You will be responsible for the full scope of engineering operations, covering both interior and exterior facilities, including electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, structural systems, landscaping, and parking infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, plan, and manage all engineering and maintenance activities across the property
- Develop and implement energy efficiency and utility optimisation strategies
- Prepare and manage annual operating, capital expenditure, and utilities budgets
- Oversee troubleshooting and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
- Manage inventory of materials, spare parts, and tools
- Coordinate team performance, set objectives, and ensure timely project delivery
- Negotiate and manage contracts with external vendors and service providers
- Conduct quality control checks across all systems and installations
- Estimate project costs including labour, materials, and timelines
- Ensure full compliance with all safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a senior management role
- At least 5 years’ experience within the hospitality sector
- Experience in large-scale resort or hotel environments, ideally with 6+ F&B outlets
- Strong technical knowledge across MEP systems and facilities infrastructure
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and review engineering drawings and schematics
- Working knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC and other relevant life safety standards
- CEM or CFM certification preferred
- Hands-on experience with chilled water systems
- Experience managing wastewater treatment and reverse osmosis plants
