Duties
- Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, move, and stack goods.
- Carry out daily pre-use safety checks and report any defects.
- Load and unload vehicles efficiently while following safe working procedures.
- Assist and attend to drivers upon arrival at the depot, and ensuring site safety requirements are followed.
- Secure and position loads correctly to prevent damage during handling and transport.
- Store stock accurately in designated warehouse locations.
- Pick, move, and prepare goods for dispatch as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse and loading area.
- Follow all health and safety policies, including the safe use of equipment and PPE.
- Report damaged goods, stock discrepancies, accidents, or near misses promptly.
- Work closely with warehouse staff, drivers, and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.
Experience/Qualifications
- Previous experience operating a counterbalance forklift in a warehouse, depot, or distribution environment.
- Must hold a valid, in-date Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) licence/certificate.
- Experience loading and unloading HGVs and commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Confident in attending to drivers on arrival, checking documentation, and directing them to the correct loading/unloading area.
- Good understanding of warehouse health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining high safety standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when required.
- Experience with stock handling, goods‑in/goods‑out processes, and manual handling is desirable.
