Our client based in the Wrexham area is currently looking for a Product Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. We are seeking a commercially minded, technically astute individual to lead the development, enhancement, and lifecycle of the client's products. This role combines deep customer insight, technical understanding, and commercial ownership to ensure our clients' products deliver reliability, accuracy, and compliance in a diverse range of operating environments. You will oversee the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through certification, manufacturing, field performance, and end of life, while collaborating with engineering, quality, operations, sales, and customers to drive growth and product excellence.
Performance Objectives
- Product Strategy & Vision
- Develop and articulate a clear product vision aligned with company objectives.
- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer interviews to identify opportunities.
- Translate regulatory and industry requirements into product priorities.
- Product Development Execution
- Partner with engineering teams to plan sprints, refine requirements, and ensure smooth delivery.
- Work with engineers to create intuitive, customer-focused designs and prototypes.
- Evaluate technical trade-offs and ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable.
- Customer & Application Understanding
- Engage directly with customers to capture requirements.

- Build and maintain a roadmap covering new product introductions, enhancements, and lifecycle management.

- Ensure products meet or exceed customers' performance expectations.
- Oversee handover to production, having ensured all prototyping, trailing, and documentation is completed.

- Cross Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure production readiness, component quality, and manufacturability.
- Work closely with quality teams to address field failures, warranty trends, and failure mode analyses.
- Support sales and marketing with technical product collateral, application guides, competitive positioning, and training for internal teams and distributors.
- Coordinate with certification bodies for approvals.
- Product Performance & Optimisation
- Track product KPIs such as failure rates, warranty cost, margin, adoption, and regional growth trends.
- Manage product variants, ranges, materials of construction, etc.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or safety compliance.
- Conduct field trials and gather performance data to validate designs and guide continuous improvement.
Person Specification
- Experience as a Product Manager or technical role within a related industry sector.
- Understanding of process industries.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, datasheets, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
- Strong commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering, commercial, and operations project teams.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into clear, actionable tasks.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or similar technical field would be desirable but isn’t essential. A business qualification will be considered.
- Communicate product plans, updates, and timelines to internal stakeholders.
- Act as the product ambassador internally and externally.
