Our client is a market leader in their field of speciality chemicals, providing practical, technical and environmentally minded solutions to the architectural, automotive and aeronautical industries.

Working in Wrexham, they are looking for a Lab Assistant to join their close-knit but experienced team who wants to grow on their chemistry and basic lab background. The role holder will work alongside other scientists, their highly experienced production team and engineers. The employee will undertake several roles including laboratory, pilot plant and manufacturing scale trial work that will help to improve existing products and processes, as well as developing new processes for customers.

Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Perform laboratory tests and related tasks efficiently to produce reliable good quality data on time with minimal supervision.
  • Carry out tasks accurately and in compliance with all relevant standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain effective records for certain tasks/projects.
  • Adapt and undertake other reasonable duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position as may be allocated by the management from time to time.
  • Assist and support colleagues on related tasks if required.
Health & Safety:
  • Comply with all the relevant health and safety training, instruction and information.
  • Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping particularly concerning storage of solvents, chemicals and customer samples.
  • Take all reasonable approaches to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
Qualifications / Work experience:
  • Previous experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge in science specifically chemistry and/or related subject.
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn and adapt to change or work tasks appropriate to the position.
  • Able to organize and prioritize accordingly.
  • Computer literate (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, internal explorer etc.).
  • A-level in chemistry and/or BSc Chemistry – GCSE Maths/English.
Hourly rate of pay:

Hourly rate of pay is £14.36 per hour for a 37.5 hour week. This is a temp role, however it will become permanent for the right person.
