Gap Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a commercially driven and relationship-focused Key Account Manager to manage and develop a portfolio of strategic retail, merchant and distribution accounts in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving profitable sales growth, identifying new opportunities, strengthening customer relationships and ensuring the company continues to deliver market-leading service levels and product solutions.

This role requires strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal departments including operations, marketing, supply chain and product management.

Hours

  • Monday to Thursday 9am - 5pm
  • Friday 8:45am - 3:15pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop relationships with key national and regional accounts
  • Deliver annual sales and margin targets across assigned customers
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within existing and target accounts
  • Prepare and present customer business plans, forecasts and growth strategies
  • Conduct regular customer meetings, presentations and account reviews
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional activity and trading agreements
  • Analyse sales performance, market trends and competitor activity
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service and operational delivery
  • Support new product launches and category development initiatives
  • Manage customer forecasts and collaborate with supply chain teams to improve availability and service levels
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events where required
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales reporting

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong commercial negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to analyse sales data and identify growth opportunities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and results-driven approach
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and CRM systems
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience

  • Experience managing accounts such as DIY retailers, builders merchants or trade distributors
  • Understanding of hardware, construction products or home improvement sectors
  • Experience working with major retail accounts and promotional planning
